Match Report
Stockport Grammar School Boys-U14A vs  Sandbach School
On: Saturday, 08 Feb 2020
Venue: Away

A strong start from both teams. Then with some nice football Sandbach created two chances and capitalized on both, but the boys’ heads didn’t drop. Half-time came, and we discussed what we could do better.

Second-half kicked off, it was a brilliant start for Stockport, due to the constant pressure of our front two, we managed to win the ball and put it through to Dominic Hanson. With a bit of magic he managed to win a penalty with two defenders on him. James Carr stepped up and put the ball in the bottom left corner, it was a brilliant finish if you ask me. However, Sandbach got another opportunity to increase their lead and with a nice bit of play, they scored. We stayed positive and managed to get on the counter. Dominic Hanson picked it up on the half-way line. He took a player on and found himself in the box, with the technical ability he has, Dom fished the counter with a sublime finish.

It was 3-2 with about ten minutes left. Stockport were pushing for an equalizer, with the midfields hard work, we got it up to Zaid Choudhury, who controlled the ball beautifully. On the half turn, he set up to shoot and put it away in the bottom right. The lads were ecstatic, but we knew we could push for another. In the dying minutes, Stockport won a corner Dom swung in a perfect ball for Will Francis who rose to the occasion and scored a powerful header. Now we were leading 4-3 with about a minute to go. We struggled to keep our shape after the goal which led to them having a free kick on the edge of the box off a late challenge. They curled a ball into our box, with a scruffy clearance they were able to tie the game. In conclusion our team showed great spirit to get back into the game and it was unlucky to come away with a draw. A very well done to the Man Of The Match Alex Carter.
