Match Report
Stockport Grammar School 2nd XI vs  Sandbach School
On: Saturday, 08 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

After a run of poor form from the 2’s, the game vs Sandbach was refreshing. An inventive counter attack bringing the first goal, thanks to Sam Rosser, before half time gave us confidence going into the second half after a quiet first half despite big opportunities for both teams to go ahead. The second half was more exciting with Stockport playing good football again and dominating Sandbach. A scrappy corner led to Sandbach equalizing against the run of play and brought them right back into the game but Stockport stepped up another gear and with many missed opportunities, Will Darling scored a header from a corner to put Stockport ahead. Then after a frantic final 15 minutes, the referee finally blew the whistle for full time after an onslaught of attack after attack from Sandbach but Stockport stayed composed and finished the job off. Man of the match went to Charlie Hallows who was relentless throughout the game, he didn’t stop running. A special mention to Matt Williams, Giacomo Mastrolanardo and Joel Hotham as well who all continued to play despite suffering from injuries.
