Match Report
Stockport Grammar School 1st XI vs  Bury Grammar School
On: Saturday, 01 Feb 2020
Venue: at Home

On a gloomy Saturday morning in February, it was Stockport who lit up the pitch with excellent play from the off in our game against Bury. There were chances left and right as we dominated proceedings in the first fifteen minutes but alas there was no reward thanks to some decent goalkeeping from their man between the sticks. They clawed themselves back into the match with a couple of opportunities but the game settled into a midfield battle and very little happened after that until the ref blew the whistle for halftime. A frustrated Stockport team turned their anger into optimism for the half that was to come and this showed straight away. We utterly dominated them, peppering their box with corners and possession but still no reward. Bury Grammar finally had a chance down our end as they broke the line inside our box, only for the striker to fluff his lines as he unleashed a pea roller into the arms of the goalie. So many times the sideline went up in sheer belief of an imminent goal, but none would come. The referee blew for full time with the score 0-0, despite continuous and inspiring pressure from the Port. Special mentions to man of the match Oli Bierne and also to Joel Hotham for an excellent first team debut.
