Stockport 4- 4 Altrincham

Written by Roman Deans

On Saturday 18th January, Stockport Grammar B team played Altrincham Grammar School. It was a rocky start with the visitors scoring within the first few seconds. They then went on to score another two, putting them three-nil up. However, the players weren’t going to lose that easily. A corner was won and swung in to the front post and volleyed in by Christian Woodworth. Suddenly Stockport were all over them before half time. When they got back on the pitch they were raring to go and it wasn’t long before Harry Brace dribbled it through and slotted it in the bottom right corner. There was a complete change in the team. A few more passes were made and Roman Deans had put it in the top right corner and they were level. It was another great run from Harry Brace who played a through ball into the centre where Roman Deans met it to hit it into the bottom right corner and they were in the lead. Stockport were holding on but within the dying moments of the game a goal was scored by Altrincham to make the score 4-4. Although the score was a draw, it was a great start to the season, with all of the boys showing grit and perseverance. The Players’ Man of the Match was Harry Brace and Manager’s player was Roman Deans, however, everyone played their heart out and there could have been 12 Man of the Matches.
